Since I don't know your exercise abilities, injury background or medical history, please see your doctor before beginning any new exercise program. First of all, I am a certified running coach, but I am not your running coach. I am happy to share it with you but as always, there are a few caveats. I starting building a training plan to get myself back up to 13.1 miles. Following a training plan is a great way to stay motivated to exercise well into the new year. To accommodate the three races, the below road closures have been arranged by organiser Run For All, in partnership with both Derby City Council and Derbyshire County Council, as the course briefly leaves the city and enters the wider county.I haven't been running long distances much this fall/winter so it is time to start training for my half marathon at the end of March 2017. READ MORE: Derby Ramathon 2023 guide - Start time, route, parking, toilets and more The wheelchair race will be the first to get under way at 9.13am before the Ramathon begins at 9.15am, followed by the Ram five-mile at 9.30am with families and other amateur runners taking part. The route is described as "flat and fast", providing the potential for competitive runners to achieve a new personal best. The route takes in Elvaston Castle Country Park, Alvaston Park, and Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium before those taking part head back to the city centre for the big finish. Sponsored by the Derbion shopping centre, the annual event sees runners pound the pavements in a gruelling 13-mile dash, starting and finishing by Derby Cathedral, in Iron Gate. Dozens of roads will be closed on Sunday morning (June 4) to accommodate Derbyshire's biggest and oldest half-marathon race. Thousands of runners will take to the city's streets as the Derby Ramathon takes place this weekend. ![]()
